Elon Musk says Grok 2.0 currently in training, likely to exceed current AI on all metrics

The race is on...

Elon Musk has announced on X that Grok 1.5 will be released next week, and that training for Grok 2.0 has commenced. He believes Grok 2.0 is likely to exceed current AI on all metrics. X AI also posted a comparison of Grok 1.5 versus current models. It looks like 1.5 is roughly in line with GPT 4 but still lags in performance in comparison to Claude 3 Opus. This seems like some pretty impressive performance from Grok 1.5 given X AI has only been working on it for a few months. The quick timescale of performance is likely related to Musk and Tesla’s deep experience in AI from its work on full self-driving vehicles. It looks like the race towards AGI is accelerating as more competitors enter the space. Furthermore, the sector is currently completely unregulated so, good or bad, there are no regulatory hurdles to clear.
